Hi..wondering whether you still change your bb diaper at night?

My boy is one year old. recently his pee seems to be a lot as i can feel the heaviness of the diaper. his last feed before sleep is around 8pm and no change of diaper since then. he will then have another 2 feed before he wakes at 8am. so that means he has 3 feeds with no change in diaper.

if i don't change, will that cause any harm?

That's a lot of feeds for a one year old. Does he wake up for them or do you get him up? My child was well and truly sleeping through the night by that stage so we didn't need to change at all until morning, but her nappy was always fairly heavy.

If he wakes up to feed then I would perhaps change at one of the last feeds. Having 3 feeds at that age at night would produce a fair amount of urine, so I wouldn't let him go the whole night or you will just have to deal with nappy rash.

Perhaps try cutting out one feed and then just changing him at the last feed.

I'll agree with the fact that it's a lot of feeds for that age. Both our kids slept 11-12 hours straight through from about 9 months. No feeds. Before that it was at least a good 8 hours.

So I suggest:

- Giving a big feed just before bedtime and seeing how he manages. Make sure that at least a couple of hours have elapsed since dinner.

- Once you're down to no night feeds, you can keep the same diaper on unless there has been a BM.

hi..thx for the suggestions. i have tried control crying when he was 9 months old (i think). i posted thread here as well...unfortunately, after one night of success and some improvement, my bub just is persistent in wanting his milk. i can't do control crying too so..i have resort to giving him the feed. actually, after the bedtime feed, he sometimes, woke just once for a feed. actually, after the bedtime feed and before the next feed, his diaper seems pretty heavy already...guess it may be due to more soup during dinner and larger milk intake at night (up another 30ml recently). in the past months, i haven't change his diaper at night..no diaper rash though. but notice now an increase in urine...so am not too sure now...

We quit changing night diapers as it would tend to result in our kid thinking it was morning and time to play -- used a prophylactic layer of vaseline after her bath and very very rarely had any issues with diaper rash [and even those rare issues tended to be food related].

"unfortunately, after one night of success and some improvement, my bub just is persistent in wanting his milk. "

It can take weeks. But it is ultimately worth it. The whole night of sleep is a nice thing for both parents and children.

In any case if there's no rash and no leaks and no poop there's not really a problem.

Hehe. We had that happen as well.
