Donating English Teaching Books

ORIGINAL POST
Posted by aemom 18 yrs ago
I've taught English in HK for several years and am now returning home. My local colleagues have no interest in nor use for the 25 - 30 books I have on various aspects of teaching English.

Can anyone suggest a charity organization that would make use of them AND that is easy for me to donate them? I teach in Kwun Tong and don't want to have to travel miles to deliver them.

Hi aemom, just roughly what level are those books?

They cover all levels of English language learning (not literature). The majority focus on teaching oral English, but also include R W L and assessment.

Do you know an organization to which I can donate them? They are not suitable for individual/self study.

Sorry, unless they are working for a charitable organization, I'm not interested.

If there is no place in HK, I will send them to an organization I know in China, but I was hoping to avoid shipping costs.

You did say "donating...' from the beginning. Sorri, i missed your point too. Have you contacted Unicef or Salvation Army etc? The organization you know in China, do they have an office here as well?

I did a TEFL in the UK and used it to give lessons to 2 local women who are studying for English exams but can not afford lessons. I don't charge them. I bought lots of books and would love a bigger range. I know I am not a charitable organisation but I will make a dontaion to a charity of youur choice in exchange. I know this is not exactly what you had in mind but let me know if you don't find anyone else to take them. Would hate to see them go unused. janetwertli@hotmail.com
