how can i tell I m buying silk not a good satin

Burn one thread - smelling like burnt plastic means it's synthtetic or synthetic mix...


Sometimes, in mainland China, they say "silk" even if you say it's not... but if you write down in Chinese is it real silk (prnounced sth like Djeng Sh'), then they'll say that in fact it's not real SILK... maybe the English word on the mainland only means shimmery / silky fabric and not rea silk...


Here, they never tried to "cheat", BUT sometimes the sales person aren't very knowledgeable.... so if the label wrongly puts that its's silk they'll believe it, even though it's blatantly not (e;g; sample sales)

Mmmmm, just like I saw some v-neck sweaters at the market labled Scotish Cashmere but there was no chance they were anything other than polyester! I looked for a care lable...strangly absent!
