i am looking to study mandarin part time at a university. the language schools i have researched in HK seem to only do once or twice a week classes and v. expensive. is it possible to go to a HK university and study mandarin? which one?

All of them I think, but definitely Chinese University and Hong Kong University have Mandarin programs,

Here is the link to Chinese University of Hong Kong

They offer:

- "full time" (week days / half day, but expect to homework of at least 3 hours a day, according to someone who went there)

- evening classes for professionals (in TST, CSW, Shatin)
