Have stayed here a short while, so have only 8-10 boxes to ship and want to go air. Any alternatives to Fed Ex. I am most concerned about shipping fragile art items. Any advice?

Hong Kong post works as well. As for fragile, I think that the treatment of the boxes will be about the same whoever you go with. Use lots and lots of packing material.
