Jury duty

Not sure if it is "legal" for such sharing, but the judiciary has access to all ID card holders' details for calling jury duty. So either way they can call you up. It used to be easy to get out of duty but there is a shortage of English capable jurors.... so if you are in this category, you will need a "legitimate" excuse. Options include:

1) Not working and no DH, one can claim child care

2) Not working but with full-time DH and husband travelling significantly, one can claim family needs

3) One's English is not sufficient (but this is only useful if you don't speak Cantonese, and don't come from an English speaking country)

4) can claim absence from HK during the time period

5) Working: your employer can state due to specific business requirements that such service would cause significant hardship

6) Involved with charity or other programmes that can not spare you during the requested period

IF you claim #4, #5, #6, the chance of being called up again is quite high. IF you claim #1 - #3, it is unlikely that they will call you again.

You must submit the "objection" within the stated time period. good luck!
