Hi, my son joined Carmel in Grade 6 this year and I am very pleased with it, and so is he. He's made new friends very quickly and adapted to a change of tuition language and school environment thanks to everyone involved: principal, teachers, students. We are not jewish, so if you mean "strict" in terms of the religious aspect of the school, i cannot really say (the Middle school has an "international" section open to non-jewish students, which is where my son is).

The curriculum is American and accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges. Carmel is a small school, with small calsses, which I think allows for a closer monitoring of the students. I found teachers are very dedicated and always available to discuss your child's progress.

If you are jewish and a member of the JCC, I suggest you talk to members there, they'll have heaps more to say!
