Shenzhen Visa

If you are going for shopping, why not stay overnight at the Shangri-La? It is opposite the mall and will save you a train trip and a border crossing. Lowu can be exhausting and nothing better to go back to a cocktail instead of a crowded train station....

i can beat that for stupidity...my wife and i wanted to take the train to Zhaoqing from Hung Hom, of course requiring a China visa for me (wife is Chinese) and the requisite return tickets and hotel vouchers. Problem is, the return ticket can only be purchased in Zhaoqing (expressly stated on the MTR Intercity website)! Of course the visa agent couldn't (or wouldn't) comprehend the difficulty in my providing a return ticket for my journey to China, when I couldn't GET the return ticket until I was in China! In addition, we were to stay with friends in China, but were told we MUST book a hotel room anyway! In the end, and after venting at the poor train ticketing agent (still feel bad about that) we decided to screw the whole trip and wait until China comes back to the playground with their ball...

There are apparently some agents in HK who will provide the necessary 'proof' of hotel etc so that visitors can get a visa - now all you have to do is find one of them!

There really is not point in trying at the border as you will only get sent back unless you have a HK ID card. I have seen people who went to get an entry visa as they had a flight booked from Shenzhen get turned away.

Out of interest, do you mind me asking how much they paid for a visa in Australia?
