I am really keen on starting mixing my own pieces, but have no idea on how to do it....
What softwares to buy?
How to use them?
Are there any places in HK where we can get to learn basics?

Mix a set on the computer...

The software you need is Ableton - you can purchase it for download at their website. It will come with a set of instructions - in fact if you want, it will even mix your set for you.
However, if you used correctly then it does take a little bit of talent, especially on tune selection and the live samples/beats you can add. I would still recommend vinyl or cds for mixing/djing as they are more fun and it is less like playing a computer game. A good in-between solution is a piece of software/hardware called "final scratch"

pro tools is the one used in studios, to make mixes, but is geared towards professionals, it takes a while to learn how to use it. Dont recommend it for someone who casually wants to mix for leisure purposes, and I dont think it comes cheap either.

Ableton live is designed specifically for the purpose, and probably the software most mix CD's are moving towards using, if they have not migrated completely already, its user friendly enough to be used by DJ's in clubs, so you just need to play around with it to learn how to use it. Not sure what the cost is.
If you google you will find software that will also do the job as well though no where near as good as the two mentioned, but probably no where near the cost either

Pro Tools systems comes with hardware like MBox2 ie you normally cannot run the software on its own. Ableton is a good stand-alone program priced at around HKD900-HKD 1200, does not hog your sytem much and used by many pros for live and studio work.
If you are a beginner and your aim is to just create non-stop mixes with fade-ins and outs I suggest you start with Sony Acid Pro. As with most software sequencers and production tools it has the capability to ReWire ie set Sony Acid Pro as master and another music application eg. Ableton/Reason/etc as slave to sync. So even if you start with Acid Pro and you want to move to a more pro system you can still work with the same files you initially created on Acid Pro.
I hope that helps.
