Dear All,
Me and my partner are both foreigners getting married in HK. We would like to do our wedding ceremony on the beach which automatically involves a civil celebrant. We are planning to relocate from HK next year so we`ll definitely need to legalize our wedding certificate before we go so that it will be accepted in other countries which recognize Apostille. Due to my previous job I`ve seen a lot of HK marriage certificates issued by government registries, normally they mention the name of the registry where marriage took place, for example City Hall, and are signed by deputy registrar but I have absolutely no clue what will be written in the marriage certificate signed by a celebrant (where did the registration take place??). So my question is if anyone can advise how this certificate (signed by a celebrant) will look like and if there`s any difference from the legal point of view between this one and a normal one given by the registry?
Thank very much in advance.
Irene

Thank you for your reply, I checked with an authorised celebrant and they confirmed that they can help to get the marriage certificate issued through any marriage registry we like (so it will still be written that our marriage took place in the City Hall, for example, even if we actually got registered on the beach), the only difference in the certificates given by the registry itself and by a celebrant is the signature, in the first case it will be signed by the deputy registrar of marriages and in the second one by a celebrant. Decided to post it just in case if somebody else will have a similar question later on.
