We are changing the code that powers the sites to something called dotnet. I have absolutely no idea what this is (I was a gym teacher before becoming an editor...) and how you do it but SG Ed (formerly of Compuware and PCCW), Jason (VGER the creator the child prodigy who started working for us as lead programmer at 13 - formerly of Sudbury but who now lives in Ottawa and runs our web making machine) and Peter (formerly tech support for major investment bank, a man who is so smart and so powerful, he could, if he wanted, make a circle a square... now our systems consultant in Singapore) all assure me that once this is completed I will be very happy as will our members because the sites will be much better and things like the forum searches etc... will work all of the time... and there will be many more exciting functions (total classifieds revamp).
Funny thing... we were hoping to hand all the framework for this to VGER last month in Ottawa (Canada) and it was my plan to go there to so we could work on this project rather than staying up all night and working on it from Asia due to the time difference (well actually, that's what I told SG Ed but in reality I wanted to go to Canada to watch some NHL playoff games and drink a lot of Molson with my friends and then go to the Amazon and take photos for the web site, eat tree grubs washed down withe Caprihanias and meet the Girl from Ipanema...but we wont tell SG Ed this).
So anyways, as often happens in life, things dont go as you expected, and sometimes they dont go at all... other stuff came up delaying the dotnet project...
I already had the flight booked and hockey tickets reserved (thank you thank you thank Joe at Air Canada for helping with getting us the hardest tickets in the world to get even harder than getting HK Sevens tickets) - game 6 of the Montreal Canadiens game... so I had to go one way or the other.
I am told that the framework will be ready this Friday - so I am expecting it no sooner than mid - July.... which means many late nights ahead (buy shares in Pacific Coffee asap...) because I will likely be working the midnight shift out of Hong Kong for the duration of this implementation.
But once this is all complete we will have a dancing party with free Molson, Super Mondays cards and mouse pads for everyone.

Ed,
since upgrading to Firefox 3 I am not able to stay logged into the site, i.e. the computer doesn't seem to remember me and every time I visit the site I need to login again. Never had this problem when I was using the earlier version of Firefox, and I don't have this problem with my webmail, is there any solution you recommend??
cheers
