Does anybody know if Americans living in HK (with indefinite return) can ship used Chinese Rosewood dining room furniture to the US tax free.

I am getting conflicting info on whether the goods will be subject to US tax.

I think, but don't quote me on this, that if you have owned the goods for 12 months they are considered your personal property and are thus exempt from duty. Assuming you don't intend to sell the goods.

Call the consulate. They will know.
