if you were flying with an 18 month old from HK to LA (12 hours) which flight would you take?
a) 13:20
b) 16:15
c) 23:40
i am leaning towards 16:15. i figure that after we board we would have 3 hours of awake time (that's also when dinner is being served) and then at 7pm it would be bed time and he could possibly sleep the rest of the way??? i thought about the 23:40 but from past experience taking baby from cot onto plane and then having to go through the noise of dinner being served means that bubs can't really sleep until 2am - nightmare!!! welcoming other opinions... :)

I think you're spot on with 1615. It could turn out badly whichever one you choose but it is your best bet.

I think it really depends on your child's temperament. I have been travelling with my daughter many times from Hong Kong to Sofia since she was 1.5. We always take the one leaving HKG at 23:15. Once she falls asleep, she doesnt mind any other noise. We always try to get the 2 seater at the back (only 6 rolls on BA flights anyway). Usually we have supper before boarding. Once we board, she only makes a little fuss then she will fall asleep shortly after taking off and can sleep all the way thru to London. I think it is also important to consider the time difference between HKG and LA, to see what time you shld fly and arrive in order get over your jetlag most easily.
