My son, a teenager, has a cart load of hair on his legs. He feels very embarrased wearing shorts, as none of his freinds have so much hair....
My question is:I am sure there must be a way to tackle this situation.
What is a way out of this situation? What should be my advice to my son?
Thanks.....

Well, I'm not a man, but I had the same situation with my son too a few years back when he seemed to develop earlier than most. I told him that most of his mates were probably wishing they had his well developed hairy man-legs instead of skinny smooth boy-legs. He's now got a lovely hairy chest to go with them too, and couldn't give a monkey's!!

Thank you Sapphire, I also told him about his friends wishing to have hair..however, as dadda mentioned, he has a wiry black hair in clumps......
dadda , I couldnt understand the relationship between road cycling and hair...can you explain...thanks so much...wax option I also mentioned...but as he is going away to study in a different country I am not to sure how the wax thing will work out there.....

True, but teenagers can be obsessive.

Options:
- Get a tan. This will make them look better.
- Shave. Not a good option since you get stubble fast.
- Epilady.
- Waxing.
If its uneven he can perhaps shave it once. It will come out more even.
"You can tell him that all this waxing stuff for men is just sort of queer-eye-4-a-straight guy metrosexual nonsense invented for marketing purposes. In the real life men don't care about such stuff, neither do women care about mens leg hair."
i disagree. My wife does care to a certain extent, although not so much about leg hair. This "metrosexual nonsense" is on the rise. I am seriously thinking of waxing my back and chest since my wife doesn't like to spoon (chest hair itches) and finds the back hair unattractive. To be fair to her, I had no hair on my back when we met but puberty never seems to end for me in this respect.
This is just part of taking care of your body, just like many men use body and facial lotions.
I do shave my pits periodically now. I get such absurdly long hair there. Also in HKs climate shaving the pits helps control body odor.
Having said that, I am not a teenager anymore and don't do anything because I am uncomfortable with the onslaught of adulthood.

Hair contributes to chafing. Marathoners and so forth also shave the hair.
Swimmers shave down their entire bodies before competitions.

That is a lot of information there!!!

Thanks axptguy38 for this useful and deep insight..will ask my son to read this..am sure he will have a fair idea of this..what I am going to ask him while choosing, to go for something that wont laeve him stranded when he is away from home..I agree shaving can be a slow process, with fast output...
Yes but surely shaving the pits...he is a hairy guy..and I am sure his wife also might follow your wife's footsteps and ask him to shave :)
Thanks once again

Hi,
I'm not a man but a woman who has grown up with all sorts of insecurities & in a house with 4 men & extensive experience with boyfriends & husbands.
This may seem like a very drab response but here it goes. Your son has enormous things to conquer in the years to come i.e personal self esteem, girls, identity, study, work & basically finding his place in the world.
Right now this issue is probably his largest but as we know as grown adults, it's pretty in-significant.
If you can help him accept this issue as being a part of him, maybe the learning will help him when he needs to conquer the larger ones ahead. (i know this is not a response a teenager wants to hear).
PS - I have a friend who has just started dating a man with more hair on his body than i've ever seen - neither she or any of her friends or his friends give a monkey's about it because he accepts it. He's a wonderful man which shines through above his hair thing.

ps - I forgot to add - if this approach doesn't work my advice is electrolosys - the only long term hair removal system (but it is removed permanently)

While your girlfriend and your mutual friends may not care about her boyfriend's excessive hair, you did just call it his "hair thing".!!

She's more discreet. She gives me very pointed and ironic hints. It's like a test. ;)
