Hi all,
Just wondering where's the best place to buy a laptop? Just want something for surfing the net, listening to music, run of the mill things that my older computer is taking a long time to do.
Was thinking of checking out the computer shops in Wan Chai, Mongkok or Sham Shui Po, I want a good deal with perhaps freebies! Fortress also has some laptops on for good prices now... 4 and 5k. Any suggestions or good experiences you've had are much appreciated.

For 4 or 5k I would definitely go pre-owned. There are a couple of good stores on the second floor of the Wan Chai Computer Centre that sell used laptops. They give a 90 day warranty. The only thing you might want to replace is the battery since they degrade.

Depends on the specs you want. I'd go check out the models in Broadway & Fortress first and see the "local" prices, then check out the SAME models with SAME specs from Wanchai. You never know where the best deals are these days hence a good research is best.
The big shops also give out many freebies since the manufacturers want to move inventory. Incentives like cash coupons, gifts, etc. are very common.

There is a big computer mall at 298 Hennesy Road in Wanchai. You can't miss it, there are big signs above the road. On the 2nd floor there are many shops that sell new and used laptops for around 4-7k.
