Hi I recently moved to sai kung I am looking for any information about where is best to ride a road bike in this area.

So far I have found the roads very narrow and dangerous due to traffic that doesn't seem to know how to deal with cyclists. Is this a common experience?

I have heard that is is safer to ride in groups. Does anyone know of any groups in the area?

thank you

Yes riding in Sai Kung can be difficult. Sai Sha road is off limits on weekends and public holidays and a $400 fine if caught. As a matter of fact a friend was knocked up into the curb and quite hurt on this road by a no. 299 bus hit and run witnesses called it in and the damn bus driver had her appeal on the wreckless operation approved in out unjust court of law absolutely pathetic. But these are the riskes of cycling try rides out to Yng Shue O, and Sham Chung, Hoi Ha, and early AM out to High Island Resevoir (but they will also issue you a ticket here if caught but if you grab your bike and head up the trails they generally will not pursue). Enjoy your rides!
