Moving to the top two floors + rooftop of a village house and looking with envy upon neighbors' lovely rooftops. Where does one find information on covers and storage sheds?
I'm new to HK and haven't seen this addressed much in the forums...(other than a few years ago).

Thanks for replying, Mighty.
I'll be moving to the Country Park, so Tai Po's not exactly a great distance (I have a car).
I'll check out the website you suggested.
Also, does anybody out there know about what constitutes a 'legal' rooftop covering? How far can one go? I'm only renting, so must be careful, but see loads of lovely enclosed rooftops...illegal? barely legal? Hmmm....

the enclosure will be illegal. the lands department can ask you or any of your neighbours to remove any illegal structure with immediately notice at any time (well, they'll give you about 4 weeks to comply if such an order is issued). the risk is yours and normally if you see such structures on most of the roof tops in your village then this is a sign that the lands department will not do anything or that no one is going to stir up trouble. trouble arises when a neighbour complains and the lands department needs to be seen to take appropriate action to have the illegal structure removed when such a complaint is received but chances are they'll do nothing if no one complains. If you are concerned, you could fit what many people have is a retractable awning and 99% of the time, the lands department are OK with this.
Also good idea to check with your neighbours if they will object or dislike you have an enclosed/glass structure if you are going down this path.

You can use Yodoko (or similar) outdoor storage units, they can make a great extra room too.
