Hi,

I have a recipe which requires chestnut mushroom, what kind of mushroom is this? is this the same as the abalone mushroom in the grocery stores.

no, it is a normal small brown mushroom - same as the white ones - you can find them in pretty much in every store -same as white but brown - the box would say chesnut mushrooms. Amazing that you could not find any picture on internet - here is a ton of them:
