Can anyone recommend a dentist who is good with children? Thank you.

I went to Mike AJ Smith in Central (The building in LKF where Pge One used to be). He was very gentle and grandfatherly. Due to a horrific experience I am now a baby at the dentist and he coped very well with me and did a really good job. He is on the A-Z Directory on this site.
I chose him at random but the fact he s a New Zealander was pretty much why I chose him.
Plus his nurse is really nice and they are very in sync, this was not the case with my last dentist and even though he was an expert which is what I needed give the horrific mess created previously it used to stress me out that they were very tense with each other.

This guy is brilliant, my daughter had a filling earlier in the year. Talked her through it and told her she was getting a special star put on her tooth. She didn't feel a thing and even asks if she can go back to the dentist now. Also recommended him to an adult friend and he too said he was brilliant. I initially got his name from recommendations on this website as well. Very gentle and caring! I'm a dentist chicken but I'd go to him if I ever needed work.

Currently looking for a Dentist. Called Raymond Lee after the above recommendation and asked the cost of consultation. I was told that I could not be given the cost as it was different for everyone. I asked the cost of cleaning & fillings again different for everyone. Called back and got another receptionist who told me the same, would not even give me an estimate - Sounds to me it could be a case of if it's a Westerner then we will charge you more! Does anyone know of a good Dentist that will not charge the earth or try to rip me off!

Hi mum6, i will be very very surprised nowadays you still get ripped off just because you are a Westerner. I personally against that kind of cheeky practice. So I cldnt resist to find out and made a phone call to there now, saying that I would like to have my teeth check but because I m not insured I wld like to make sure i can afford the fees before I come. The receiptionist was very friendly and gave me the same answer that you said here. So I said pls just give me a general idea then she started to say our checking fee (consultation fee) is HK$400 and that is a standard fee. She said she cant really say anything beyond that as the dentist wl check n decide. She sounded quite sincere to me. You may get a definite answer if you are consulting in Australia or UK. But may be Hong Kong is different. I dont know. My point is it doesnt matter whether you are a westerner or a local, it is just their way of not quoting over the phone.
I usually call Fortress or Broadway to ask for prices when I want to compare prices of different household electrics. As long as they have products, they wl tell me. But GOME never discloses their prices over the phone. So really it is just 'different companies, different policies'.

Called this dentist some time ago after seeing the recommend. Initially could not get consultation fee out of them persisted and was told $400. Asked for cost of adult filling no luck persisted asking for min & max price told to see dentist before they would give me any costs - do not tend to trust unless they are up front so went to a dentist that could give me costs before hand most do.

Hi Mighty. Just called 3 other Dentist listed on this site and all of them (although too expensive for me to use) gave me the cost of Consultation, Cleaning and fillings although one of them said the cost of the filling would be dependant on the Dentist seeing it but gave me the range. So if these Dentists can give a definate answer don't see why Lee can't makes you wonder and simple answer he won't get my custom. Still looking for Dentist that is reasonble price wise if anyone can help.
