anyone seen any corner guards that don't involve using that two sided sticky tape - which doesn't really work that well anyway, but also leave a mark when the corner falls off. i will need something when we go on holidays as all the beds, coffee table, tv table all have pretty fierce corners, i can see by the photos. i know there is something you can wrap around the whole coffee table but anything else? ie for beds and tv tables?

IKEA has plenty of this kind of safety stuff, including corner guards, in the child and baby section.
Also, kids do learn. It's only during a few months after they have learned to crawl and before they remember properly that you really need to be at DefCon 1.

You can also try something which is easily available and dirt cheap.
If you go to any of the building tools shops, any of them, ask/look for those tubes they use to cover the copper tubes of aircons. They come in two colours white and black, they are very soft. All you have to do is to cut along the tube with pen knife or scissors.
Then you simply put along the area you want to protect. It should hold by itself because of the presure, but if not, any sticky tape turned inside out to a circle shape and placed inside would hold it firmly.
We used it on marble next to our bed and it woked perfectly fine.
They also have them in few different thicknesses if you want to use it on a table which is 1/2 cm or marble which is 2 cm.

omaharrison, this sounds like a perfect solution for me. :) however, i am a bit clueless as to what these tubes are! what material are they made of? plastic? foam? source from a hardware store? can you point me in the direction of one in central. thanks! and apologies for being so clueless...

Sashimi gilr, these tubes are used to protect the copper tubes they use with aircons where the engine is outside the house, as oppose to 'window aircon'. It's hard sponge material. I tried to find a way to describe it better and since I can't then a picture as they say is worth 1,000 words, so try any of those links to see the pictures- http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/tsingtaolisa/product-detailmbjnVWayOQpl/China-Insulation-Heat-Tubes-For-Air-Conditioner-Construction.html

Maybe even print any of those pages to show the guys at the shops.
Sorry, I don't know any shops in centeral area that sell that but if you would ask people here I am certain they would be able to direct you to area of construction shops.
One more tip, when you go, if you find yourself explaining what you need, don't mention the safety children thing, just stick to aircons. It will very much confuse them if they see an expat female walking into a construction shop asking for something to do with kids ;-)
