Hello Ladies. I just moved to HK from the US and can't use my epilator without buying a plug&voltage adaptor (I killed my last epilator in France thinking the plug adaptor would do the trick, not realizing that the poor little thing couldn't handle the voltage.).
I want to buy a new epilator (any brand - but preferably not Epilady. Maybe Braun or Panasonic??). Problem is, I can't find any Hong Kong online shopping site that sells them...nor can I find a UK site that will ship an epilator to Hong Kong.
Does anyone know where to go to purchase an epilator (either by subway/taxi or online)?
many thanks!!

I bought mine (a Phillips Satinelle Ice Premium) from the Phillips Showroom/Service Centre at room 1706 in the Hopewell Centre, 17 Kennedy Road Wanchai. I phoned in advance to check they had it in stock - having read good reviews online in the UK. According to one website I just found, their number is 2529 8321.

I got one! I went to Sogo. They only had a few on display, but they had the one I wanted. It's the latest Braun (which is the first brand I ever bought - much better than Epilady). It was a whopping $898 HKD, and I'm not the negotiating type (particularly in feminine hygene situations), but it had all sorts of bells and whistles (shaver head, armpit contour guard, a bright light at the front...so you don't get lost :) ). One feature is that it is rechargeable and supposedly will hold its charge for 40 min. This is great - it allows me to travel with it without requiring a voltage and plug adaptor. I used it the other night and it worked great. I'd highly recommend it.
Thanks everyone!!

Fuzzlenut, and others, does your epilator hurt? As in more thn the waxing.
I had one by Braun, ages back -- it was the first they had launched -- and it used to be pretty painful so I used it only in an emergency.... otherwise got myself waxed once a month. Since then I have been scared to buy another one though I do want to as it is so much more convenient.
If you can suggest a painfree one, it did be great!
thanks.

Pain FREE?! ha! It does hurt but I don't find it any more painful than waxing. But I might be a special case: I have some persistent little hairs than often require a second go, and having the wax applied twice is quite unbearable.
But if you wanted to test out your tolerance, maybe you could start by buying one of the less expensive models. If memory serves, Sogo had some that were as low as $400 HKD.

Hi there Zonked.
I agree with fuzzlenut, it does hurt, but to be honest, I find that after the first few seconds I get used to it and am happily epilating away on full speed !
My Phillips Satinelle Ice Premium (HKD740 last year) has two attachments that you keep in the freezer and attach when ready to use. One is for legs and the other underarm/bikini line - I do not recommend the latter, that really did sting !
Anyway, these "ice" attachments roll over the area epilated and are supposed to make epilation "more comfortable and less painful than ever". Not sure if that is the case as haven`t tried it without but seeing as this was the first epilator I`d ever bought/used, I was sold on that score.
Must admit the first time I used it I had a glass or two of wine as the hairs were quite long and the speed of the epilator got me nervous - ha ha.

alright mmmcheesecakes, I assume you either (a) live alone or (b) are married because I cannot imagine the following scenario without laughing hysterically: single woman brings a date home, date opens the freezer for some ice, and what does he find? bikini and armpit epilator heads. hah! :) my eyes are watering now...

The answer is (b) fuzzlenut - but I do remember hubby`s comment, along the lines of "what are these ?" when he first saw them in the freezer.
All I can say is makes a change for a guy to actually notice something in front of their eyes in the fridge/freezer (much as I love him - it`s a guy thing). Not sure of your situ but you must have come across the scenario where a guy asks where something is, normally in the fridge, and it is there right in front of them.
Anyway, glad I made you laugh.
