I think that USD2000 housing is rather low but of course it depends what level you are at in a company. Some bankers we know are getting over $20,000 per month. So its difficult to say an average.

The ratio doesnt seem right... "making USD $60K"... but then "USD $2,000 per month for housing"... I guess they are all per monthly figures, right? A funny proportion..

I'll chime in and say there are no "standard" allowance. There are many people at mid/upper management levels with allowances in the tens of thousands of USD. Many others are around 5-10k. It depends on the level, the bank, the contract...
2k sounds rather low, though.
"2) Can someone suggest how to go about getting documentation to prove USD $2,000 housing allowance is standard?"
You can't, because it isn't standard. You need to negotiate this as an individual. Also in my experience, banks are more impressed with individual demands than a paper where you just feel you are being unfairly treated compared to everyone else.

US salaries are typically quoted yearly. So my guess is 60k/year. I wonder if the bonus is on top of that.
