My gal friends and I are planning a trip to Seoul from the 11th - 15th Sept but just found out (after buying our tickets!) that it's the Chuseok from the 13th - 15th Sept this year!
We've asked a few people and some say we should change our dates as it'll be a ghost town during that week/wkend (i.e. during the Chuseok and also a few days before and few days after) but some others say it can be very crowded on other weekends, and it'll be quieter (but not dead) and nice during that weekend anyway, and that there will be special festivals that we can check out during then. Can anyone (with recent experience) help set the record straight?
I think that it's really not THAT quiet in HK over Chinese New Year, but it IS dead in London and very quiet in Australia over Christmas (almost all shops are closed), and it's actually quite festive in Singapore during CNY and Christmas and almost all the shops are still open anyway. How does Chuseok compare to those cities/festivals?
My gal friends and I wanna check out the shops and nightscene, and also try out the local eateries etc in Seoul.
Would be most grateful for any replies! Thanks so much!!

Chuseok I believe is a very important date on the korean calendar and from my holiday experience, most of the local shops were closed or only opened till the afternoon. (This is only based on one of the Seoul District I stayed at)
