Hi,
Can you recommend a good private Mandarin tutor for a 5yr old?
Thanks.

I am sure axptguy38 has PM-ed you a good one. Just wondering if it is better for a 5 year old to learn in groups? It sounds a bit serious and lonely for a 5 year old to learn a language on his/her own old. My daughter needs to learn Cantonese soon. She wl be 5 this December but think I wl choose a small class for her to learn.

My tutor teaches Cantonese (including to me). Maybe I'm just a contrarian. When out and about in HK Cantonese is much more useful (and fun). Learning Mandarin as an adult in HK while not using it in business feels a bit like learning a dead language. ;)

Hi sorry if my reply misled any of you. In fact my daughter wl be joining the after school Cantonese lessons organized by ESF Ltd. I was just wondering if it is better to join a class of similar age and capability than employing a private tutor. To me, it sounds a bit boring for a 5 year old to actually sit down and learn a language. What you guys reckon?

I think it depends on the class and the tutor. Kids are quite social and may find a tutor boring. Then again, some tutors are naturals with kids and make the whole exercise quite fun. Sorry that I can't be more definite. ;)
