Karihome (spelling?) something like that is sold here in HK.

However, don't know what your reason is to feed goatmilk to your baby.... my three pediatricians have advised STRONGLY against it... when I inquired about it... because I heard goat's milk is better for eczema.....

Thanks Momoftwo, we found Karihome and have started our baby on that. I asked for Karicare because I know that brand from back home, but we have looked into Karihome and it's a NZ brand, so we are happy with that.

Goat Milk is much more gentle on the gut. My daughter was intolerant when I tried to put her onto formula and cows milk at 12 months. she broke out in a rash and vomited. My GP advised goats milk and it was great, never had a problem.

I have had to stop breastfeeding for medical reasons now and my 7 week old son was having a terrible time since trying him on cow milk based-formula. My lactation consultant suggested goat milk formula as it is closer to breastmilk than the regular formula when it comes to nutrients, etc. It's not as thick either and is easier to digest. There is a major difference, he is more content, passing wind better and burping easier without bringing up too much.

I contacted Matilda to ask about goat milk and she also said they do not recommended goat milk and I asked why and she just said they are told to say they do not recommend it. So it would be interesting to find out what they base this decision on. I would question your paed about it and ask exactly why they are all against it over here.

Just do a google on goat milk and there is lots of research to show it's good.

neenib,

We/I fed our first (currently preggers with 2nd) exclusively on goats milk, avoiding cows milk as I am asthmatic and avoiding soy milk due to the inconclusive research on how it alters hormone levels (just didn't want to risk it.)

We never had any issues with burping, colic or consumption - actually he ate like a horse, or a goat if you will excuse the pun!

Anyway, a healthy bouncing 4 yr old, I will aim to do the same again... would love to know in what store you have found Karihome?

Hi Team NZ

My husband picked up Karihome from Taste at Festival Walk in Kowloon Tong. I also know Eugene Club have it also as I have done the phone around to try to find goat milk when i first starting looking.

i have to say though, it really stinks when he brings it up! That lovely sour milk smell that lingers on and lodges firmly in the nostril! So much stronger than regular formula or breasmilk! But worth it for the difference it's making.

I assume it may also be available in B2B. It costs around $289 in Taste, which is much more expensive and regular formula, but cost is not an issue when it comes to the health of our baby.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of Nannycare Goat Growing Up Milk here in Hong Kong? I have tried Citysuper and ThreeSixty but they do not carry it.

Thanks!
