HK Driver's license valid in Spain?

Is it valid in Spain? I have a UK license but the address is now wrong.

Go to the transportation department, and get an international license. Spain will recognized those. It costs about HKD 100, and will take you about 40 minutes. Bring 2 passport photos with you

I travel to Spain a lot and always use my HK licence. I've never bothered with an international licence and all the car hire places have accepted the HK licence without question.
