I love childrens books but not always sure of their "age apporpriateness"

I am looking for a really lovely book for a present for a 1 year old. Great suggestions welcome

Thanks

anything with a flap!!! my son LOVES those books. there are lots of books with different textures that baby can feel but they don't seem as attention grabbing as those flappy ones. :)

Go Dog Go

Aaargh! Spider!

The Going to Bed Book [her fave among the Sandra Boynton books]

Going on a Bear Hunt

Goodnight Moon

Goodnight Gorilla

We read quite a bit, and we found that her interest in books really picked up soon after she turned one -- she's 21 months now, and if she had her way, we'd probably spend all day reading. The above are some of the books that she started liking early [probably partly due to cadence and partly due to illustrations] but that she still wants to read many months later, and we can still stand to read them to her many months later.

We also love Sandra Boynton. "Moo Baa La La La" is nice for this age. We also recommend "kika". Amazon link below:

Another one with very nice graphics to look at:

Finally, we like the Karen Katz books too. Counting kisses, etc.
