I don't understand why you don't try buying an ariel ( a portable one which you can plug into your tv that does not need to be placed outside). When the only options in Hong Kong were Cable or FTA I used one, it worked in every place I have ever lived, though I had a friend who had one that was not able to get an english signal in any of the places he lived. Still they dont cost very much so its worth giving it a punt, its not like it will break the bank and if it does work, problem solved.

something like that is what I had and it worked a treat, you should be able to get one in fortress, I got mine when I bought my CRT TV years ago from the same shop I bought the TV from, as I was buying it, perhaps they have scaled back on selling them in Hong Kong with the ubiquity of NOW and cable, but I doubt it somehow. If you look at that website there are really plenty of options, may be an idea just ordering from them, they cost like 20 GBP, 7 GBP for the cheap ones but I am sure you will find a shop that sells them in Hong Kong

the way i read it, it's not that OP has no signal, just that it's poor...so possibly the HD signal would be better...if its on TVB HD, (the digital signal), the OP's picture would likely be better than analog, but a STB is required

Does anyone know any pubs around that will be showing opening ceremonies tonight?

Take a walk around LKF, I am pretty sure 3/4 places will have the opening ceremonies on screen.
