we have the advent one and it is always dripping when my toddler drinks from it!!! he loves water and is always drinking water but it means that we have numerous t-shirt changes a day because the front of his shirt always gets damp. although it is summer i don't really want him running around with a wet chest as he's just recovered from a bout of bronchiolitis.... would appreciate suggestions for sippy cups that don't have the leak factor. thanks!

Tommy Tippee cups don't leak.
Neither do the Avent ones as long as you mount the valve the right way. The latter will leak if you hold them upside down and shake them, but hey...

Been through a ton of these cups and the same problem. However I have found that the Nuby Cup with a straw is the best option for us. It has a no spill straw and it works most of the time if my daughter is not trying to unscrew the cap!

yes sometimes that is what my baby classifies as "drinking"!!!
i may switch to a "non-spill" straw cup. are we meant to be progressing to straw cups at this age anyway?? (15 months) thanks!

That's when you tell them to stop. If they don't stop take the cup away so they understand. My kids had learned that before they were a year old.

Why not skip all the kiddy stuff? At 15 months they can use a glass. Both my kids use a glass (not plastic, real adult glass ones) at the table. This from about 14-15 months. Fill the glass only half way. We only use sippy cups when outside. Teaching table manners can be a bit of challenge but our 16 month old doesn't spill a drop. If they start banging it on the table or playing with it you say "no" once. Second time you take it away for a bit.

yes at 15 months you can progress to straw cups. i gave up on sippy cups and got baby playtex straw cups. it was an easy swich. baby never protested and he loves his straw cup...
u can get them at toys r us, city super and occasionally at b2b.

yes, same - i actually found that the kids liked straw ones better than sippy.

At 15 months anything but a glass is not needed unless you are out and about. If I need to give my 16 month old some water I just give her a glass. Plastic if not at the table, glass if at the table.
Kids at that age want to emulate everything that their parents do. If you get them using glasses, forks and spoons early, that's an easy transition. If you wait, you're in the "no-zone" and it may take months and years before they want to try again. And it will probably be harder.
