I've just been watching TV and hear the announcer say that some of the Olympics coverage is available with bilingual commentary. Anyone know how that works?

But dont the free to air broadcasters broadcast in Nicam, where you can switch commentary language, they both vaunted the introduction of the technology and that was over 15 years ago. Usually they only offer Chinese commentary for English programming, but perhaps with the Olympics they do it on the Chinese channel as well.

TVB (both channels) have bilingual commentary on Nicam, but ATV does not.

actually, i prefer to turn down the Eng. as well, as the commentators are truly awful in every respect...little knowledge, terrible banter, constantly butchering names (of ANY nationality), miscalling results...at this point i'd be willing to suffer the American hyper-jingoist commentary of NBC!

Ha ha, kind of know what you mean, fun bobby...was watching the rowing the other day, and the Australian commentator repeatedly referred to the 'English team' and the 'English rowers'...terrible.'England' and the UK and not the same...GB athletes should be referred to as 'British'... rant aside, though, I must be missing something very obvious, but if there is a commentary in Chinese, is it possible to switch a button and hear it in English?

actually i just tried nicam...TVB Jade (the Chinese channel) has Chinese only, but TVB Pearl (the English channel) can be switched btw Eng and Chinese

check on your remote for an "A/B" button, maybe with a small speaker symbol near it, or possibly in your on screen menus....

Okay, I get it now.TVB Jade is covering alot of gymnastics and diving which I especially like, but if I can only get it in Chinese, fair enough.It's better than nothing!Thanks!

some remotes have a symbol "II" for Nicam. just try all the buttons in turn. But to be honest the English commentry is really bad, monotoned and uninformative. Luckily I have a satellite with 6 diferent channels in English covering different aspects of the Olympics with great commentary as they got experts in each sport doing teh commentary.

It's second hand, so not sure...but it says 'nicam' on the screen when I press the button, but no change in commentary.

for me, when i press nicam on Jade, i get "Nicam main" with chinese, press again and get "nicam sub" for english, press again and get 'mono' in chinese...

Try pressing the nicam button twice to flip between the two nicam channels
