Metalworker for a repair

ORIGINAL POST

The other day a big chunk of stone facing fell from our bathroom countertop. Luckily no kids were playing under it at the time.

Unfortunately it made two big dents in the lid of our steel dustbin. This is heavy gauge sheet metal. The lid itself is not flat but dome shaped (torispherical for the geometry nuts).

Does anyone know of a shop that can perform this kind of repair? It should be nothing major for an experienced guy with a hammer, an anvil and some polishing tools.

There is a little stall with a metal worker on the little steps on Pottinger Street coming up from Queens Road towards Wellington/Lyndhurst where all the stalls selling ribbons and fancy dress clothing are. Not sure exactly which stretch of the steps it is, but I think it is nearer the end where Lotus the restaurant is.

There is also a metal worker on Cat Street about 2/3 of the way down toward the Sheung Wan end on the right side. Chui Kee Steel & Bed Co. Sorry but the rest of the info is in Chinese so can't give a phone number or exact address. He does really nice work though.

I went to the one on Pottinger street. As you say it is near the end of the stalls on the left as you go up. Very nice guy. He explained to me (with gestures) that it wouldn't be perfectly smooth. Picked it up today. Looks great. You can see the dent a little bit but you can hardly feel it. Nice work. He even buffed the whole dustbin to a fine shine. A bargain at 80 Honkies.
