How to pack/move back to US inexpensively?

I'm about to move back to the US and am trying to figure out the cheapest but safest way to ship my belongings. I'd rather not use expensive movers (Crown, etc.) but was wondering how safe/reliable using regular HK sea shipping is? How much is it to insure each box? The biggest boxes the HK post provides is 730x550x460mm but I think the weight limit to the US is 20kgs per box. Does the HK post charge by weight or by box? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

I would use caution using "cheaper" movers. The big names do cost more, but they are also typically more reliable. Moving to the US means putting your stuff under some pretty close scrutiny. Well prepared documentation is critical to avoid issues.

HK Post shipping is reliable. Rates for surface packages to the US can be found here: http://www.hongkongpost.com/eng/postage/overseas/parcel/surface/index.htm#u
