has anyone recorded programmes frm cable tv recently? it kept saying this programme is copy protected when i tried to record frm our dvd recorder.

i think you need to "unlock" by putting in a code, not sure if from the manufacturer of the product.

Is it HDTV you are trying to record? I read a very interesting article that one big reason HDTV is being 'pushed' is because the program providers can stop home recording and so sell more DVDs especially of big events such as Super Bowl and dramas etc.

well i can record frm the regular tv channels as well as NOW TV but not frm cable TV for some strange reason & this "copy protected" msg comes up on cable tv. all was fine until abt 1-2 wks ago. i havent touched the connection/wiring so should be all good. just seems strange thats all?!

Not true, as evidenced by the fact that there are plenty of HDTV recordings for download on the internet and a bunch of the fake DVDs of US/UK serials in China are recordings of HDTV broadcasts.
