Cleaning glass

I recently moved flats and the glass in the shower is covered in grime scum which I'm having trouble removing. I've tried everything from normal glass cleaner to cif (jif) with a pot scrubber and nothing shifts it. Any tips? Home remedies I could try? It needs something pretty powerful I think. Thanks.

Rubbing alcohol perhaps. It tends to clean grime quite well. Also acetone. It will require elbow grease. Also ensure you have good ventilation so you don't get sick.


In some cases the glass may simply be pitted beyond repair, meaning the grime is not sitting on a flat surface any more. That will be very hard to get off.
