Electric Oven Advice

ORIGINAL POST
Posted by Totty 18 yrs ago
I am in desperate need of an electric freestanding oven not one of the little ones but one with 4 rings and an oven.

Can anyone give me an idea of where i can buy one brand new, and possibly a price guideline, as secondhand ones seem hard to come by.

Any advice is gratefully appreciated and thank you!

Free standing are harder to find than the built-in ones, aren't they? There is the Miele shop ($$$$$) or Baumatic, but I don't know if they do only gas ovens (or combination of gas and electric), or you could try stores like B&Q in Kowloon Bay/City, or Fortress or the shop with the large Panasonic logo by Wanchai MTR, which used to stock several different brands. Town Gas does free standing ovens in white and stainless steel; I don't know if there's an equivalent electricity board shop??

I do realize that this is quite an old post, but was wondering if you had any luck. I am now in the market for an electric oven as well. Could you share any leads that you may have had? Thanks so much!

They have them in Wing On (Sheung Wan) and Fortress (Queen's Road Central branch) - I know because I recently bought an electric oven. I ultimately decided to get a mini oven as I saw a really fab one in Pan Handler (Prince's Building, Central) but I looked at the full size free standing ones first. Hope this helps!

I just bought a Siemens oven from a kitchen appliance store called BonKuchen in Causeway Bay (2-4 Tin Lok Lane, under the bridge/flyover near Times Square) which carried Miele, Siemens and other brands. Can't remember if they stock freestanding ovens in their showroom but heir staff is quite helpful and knowledgeable. Could try giving them a call. Tel 2117-3008.

I ordered it through our interior designer who got us a 10% (?) discount - anyway, we paid around HK$7000 - but this was a basic built-in model.

(In our old home, I used to have a built-in Electrolux - which also worked quite well but only cost around HK$4000 at that time - 5 yrs ago.)
