I m not a regular customer for maincure . I don't can't remember what tools do they use.

My friends got fungus after went to different fancy nail Salon / bar .they didn't get any treatment after couples of month since the nail polish cover their nails they didn't even know .

and I check up on the internet that they said the best way to avoid it is bring your own tool , since I m not the type of girl that care about the nail too much . so I have no idea what tools should I buy when there are so many " tools " u can choose from the drug store

I brought my own buffer which I got it form the shop and they said they don't use buffer for customers . i felt so dumb which I paid 400 for my buffer .

since I don't really have a regular place to do it . I guess the girls or different nail bra use different tools.

can anyone tell me what is in a manicure set ?

I m sorry hear that Crystal ..seem so hard to avoid . the alcohol wipes won't kill all the germs tho . even the one in the gym that they provide only got 25% alc.

Professional manicures and pedicures should be undertaken with equipment which is autoclaved, that is, sterilized in a purpose-built high pressure "cooker" for an hour or so, or sterilized in another properly recognised fashion. Wiping equipment with alcohol swabs cleans but does not kill fungal spores or bacteria, which most people would appear to be unaware of, taking great comfort from the manicurist showing equipment being "sterilized" with the wipe of an alcohol swab.

Most germs would be actually killed by a solution of Bleach & water left to dry for 15 min.... Most germs are actually not killed by alcohol...

I personnally bought my own kit of tools, bring a DETOL spray with me (spray and let dry : don't wipe the product, it needs time to be effective).

Most place would actually give you very clean / fresh / new towels, but you can bring your own.

For ShangHai pedicure, went to the actual place in advance and had one complete set of tools ordered (less that 300 HKD) and sharpened for me. I bring it back any time i have a SH perdicure.

For "normal mani/pedi" best thing is to go at the salon, ask to see what they are actually using and buy whathever is needed in Sasa, then clean it with dettol or bleach & water (make sure it's properly dry so as to avoid rust)...

Normally that would include nail file, nail clipper, cuticle trimmer, cuticle pusher, "foot file" (to scrape off hard skin from under your heels)

Also bring moisturizer & cuticle cream, nail varnish remover, and possible nail varnish base & nail varnish...

For more sophisticated stuff (artificial nails, etc....) i haven't got the faintest idea, though...

Make also sure the pucket /bowl in which you are soak your talons is clean (spray some detol or make sur they line it with a plastic sheet)

A good way to avoid indection is to ask them not to cut your cuticles, but only push them...

I might look ridiculous, but a friend recently had to undergo a toe operation due to infection caught in a nail salon....

So i'd rather look ridiculous with my over cautious approach, than sorry after...
