Is it possible to bring a left side steering wheel car to HK and drive no problem? Are there rules about that?

Unless it is a classic car I would doubt it. My friend had to swap teh drive over when he brought a car over from teh states. The TD would not register it otherwise.

plus I think it is cost prohibitive to import a care. I actually don't see why they wouldn't allow it as long as you drive on the correct side of the road I am not sure what the objection would be, but I to somehow suspect that they will not allow it

You are not able to register a LHD car here in HK. The only LHD cars allowed on the roads are China vehicles registered for use in HK, and there are very few of them. As with other US cars on the road here it would need to be converted to RHD first and go through a thorough inspection before it would be considered. Bear in mind the import tax on vehicles here is crippling.
