Can a company sue a candidate who submitted his resume with false working experience?


A friend of mine submitted his cv stating that he was a Manager for a company but he was actually hired as an Assistant Manager. He was then sued by that company who did not hire him. Is this possible?

Being sued for what? If it is a civil suit, they would have to show damage, whatever the cause of action. A more serious issue might be a criminal charge - in England, perhaps attempted fraud or attempting to obtain a pecuniary advantage by deception (or whatever the HK equivalents are)
