Travel visa at Shenzhen border?

My family and I would like to go to Shenzhen for a long weekend. We are USA passport holders and do not have a visa for the mainland. Do we need to get a visa in HK or can it be obtained at the border?

You need to get the visa in Hong Kong. You will need proof of accommadation booking or letter of invite from someone in Shenzhen if you are staying with friends.
