I have a very large format photograph (1.8m x 1.4m approx) that I would like to have mounted and framed.
Does anyone know of a good QUALITY picture framer who perhaps specialises in photographs?
(I place the emphasis on quality more than price because the photo was a gift, it's by a prominent Australian artist and its quite large.)
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is a place that I go to in Wan Chai. Queens Road East one block west of Hopewell. I do not have the name, but it is the first shop on the Hopewell side of the street as you walk towards Pac Place. They will have archival mounts and UV glass, which will help prevent pictures from fading or yellowing. You want acid-free paper because you don't want the mount to affect your print. Yes, more expensive but worth the extra that you will pay. Pretty much all the framing shops in Wan Chai will offer this service.
Is it a Ken Duncan by any chance

Picture This (shop in Prince's Building, gallery in The Galleria) is very good for this kind of thing. Probably expensive by HK standards but nowhere near what you would pay in the US.
Here is the address info page: http://www.picturethiscollection.com/contact/Info/page1/ . You should go to the Galleria location for your work.

thanks for the advice Philly and Axpt ...
will check them out and see how i get along.
no Philly, not a Ken Duncan. one of Simon Terrill's crowd theory photographs. incredible image but would not be to everyone's liking I suspect.

Had a look at Terrill's work - it is rather a macro look at crowds. I ran into something of similar nature but looking at crowds on more micro level, within the rooms of a museum. I came across this in Florence. Interesting work, to release the shutter at the right time, to best capture the expressions of everyone. When done right it can be captivating. When done wrong, it will just be a snapshot.
Good luck with the framing. Picture This does do good work. But this is more of a retailer whilst my recommendation is more of the backend, and you are actually dealing with the framer. Keep that in mind and happy shopping.

thanks Hen,
someone else recommended a place between GOD and the escalator but they couldn't be more precise than that ,,,, i think you may have pinpointed the shop for me ,,, thanks.
Philly, Terrill has a long exposure time and people who know they are in the staged tableau stand still and the others passing through the scene become a blur ... adds another dimension which is really only perceived on the full prints ... really interesting work , contemporary Breugel (sp?)
