Renewing my passport -china visa??

I hold a british passport which currently has a 1 year china visa which is valid until January 2009. I need to renew my passport and was wondering if I can just take my old passport with me or do I have to renew my china visa in my new passport??

From my experience if you are holding a china Z working visa then you have to inform the PSB about your passport.
