Office bullying/harrassment

I am being harassed/bullied at work by a female colleague. (she has spread rumours about me, will not speak to me, walks out of the room (in a dramatic way) whenm i enter etc..) in a meeting with my boss, the meting finished with the comment: what a shame 2 girls who cant get on.

I am unsatisfied with the outcome and want to take the matter further, are there laws in HK with regards to bullying etc. It is still going on .. perhaps even stronger than before....

If she`s spreading untrue rumors then you must talk to your boss/HR people and get it stopped. Her actions are enough for the company to at least discipline her at most dismiss her but you need to make sure something is done! If you work for a multi national and the people here are reluctant to do anything then you should get in touch with global HR people and report the problem...maybe talk to your boss first and tell him that it has come to that. As for walking out not talking...probably shows what kind of an immature, insecure and jealous person she is. Don`t worry about that at all. Hope it works out for you and don`t be afraid to stand up for yourself if you are being wronged.

hi kitty,

if you come across with her in the toilet, talk to her and dont make a scene..dont stoop down to her level..talk to her in a civilized way, who knows she might be embarrassed of the way you will patch up things with her...this is just a first step..if she still continues then better go to the next level, talk to the hr and tell them the hostilities you experienced from her....

chill out!..maybe you have something she doesn't have....

cheers!

Most bullies were bullied themselves or have an insecurity about something that's why they like making other people feel 'small'. In saying that though, there is definitely no excuse for it! I agree with most of the comments here, confront her and ask her why she is acting the way she is. If that doesn't work, make a formal complaint with your boss- tell him that you are not happy with the situation, give him/her a detailed, unemotional list of why and if possible, witness accounts.

Goodluck!

Do you know why she's picking on you? Or does she behave that way to everyone?

Make sure you report this to a superior whom you think is fair though, and not someone who sides with her.
