Hi,

Sorry to hear about your painful period. I used to have a lot of trouble too. I don't use tampons, just pads. Have you seen any Chinese doctors to find out the root of problem? A good one will tell you what needs to be improved.

Try change your diet to a healthier one too. I found after changing my diet, the pain is lesser.

Another thing - :P :) this is gonna sound cheeky :P :) well, :) having sex helps too :P :) hmm. not sure how old you are, so not sure if this is appropriate for you :)

good luck!

Hi :)

well, that's strange - developing rashes from certain ingredients! Are they genuine Chinese doctors? :P Aren't there any other EXCELLENT Chinese doctors around your place? The ones that feel your pulse and would tell you about your body with you telling them much. They should be able to tell you which part of body needs more "ki" i.e.. more boost etc, and also which part is weaker. Another thing is, Chinese medicine works better when it's brewed, instead of in powder. Another thing I've learned since I came back.

Western medicine would never cure the root of the problems, it would cure the symptom only. So I wouldn't go to one for my period pain.

I fainted when mine came the first time that was in NZ, it was freezing cold and it made things even worse, I think. Have you got anemia? I was born with anemia, so when my period came, it made things worse, my face would turn pure white like a ghost, :), now I try to eat some more high iron products, like mussels, apples, grapes, and beetroots! I looove beetroots now. I would make fruit+vegie juice with beetroot in it and drink it in the morning as my breakfast :).

I've changed my diet like 80% or more since last year. It helps a lot. Stick with healthy food and juices~ my gosh, I'm in love with juice now :) I have to have them. It has to be fresh juice, use a blender, it's simple and easy. :)

Sex makes it worse? hmm~ :) that's not fun at all isn't it? :P :) Find out what your body needs or lack of (like mine is anemia) and work around it.

surgery? I've heard of some sort of surgery. There are some pros and cons about it. Be very careful about surgeries!

Read BOTH links~ :)

Hi,

There are some advice I got from preventing the pain, I think you might have heard of it.

1. No icy water/soft drink (definitely not~ cos it's bad for the stomach)

2. no ice cream either (that's why i hardly eat them, only couple of times when it gets really hot in summers). I used to eat heaps and heaps when I was in NZ especially in winter! :) well, it made the matter worse of course :P :) I couldn't resist the ice cream back home :) sooo yummy!

somehow I can resist it here :P :)

3. when your period comes and it hurts like hell, put hot water bottle/bag on ur stomach and lie down (there's one type that's especially for period pain). You should feel much better within 30 mins-1 hour (i usually fall asleep with that on my stomach :)). - make sure the lid is closed properly! it's really hot! :)

4. Boil some hot water with lots of giners and brown sugar (the really dark colour one - that looks sort of reddish colour). and then drink it.

5. or cook red beans plus brown sugar (again, the darkish ones). and eat lots of it.

6. drink hot chocolate

7. start eating an apple a day~ at least half an apple. to build up iron.

I found that now I drink juice every morning with apple, nashi, beetroot, lemon, ginger, sometimes a banana or some pineapples,i don't feel the pain that much.

8. then there's the old fasion way - oh before period comes of course :P :) to "loosen down there" :P :)

as for chinese doctors :P :) i'm in taipei :) so i don't know any in hk :) yes I know several of them, cos i went to them when i wanted to fix my period pain. I took them for awhile. Then I learned it's not good to keep having chinese medicines for a long run, so i cut it out when i got a bit better. Then changed my diet and I got better. ^____^

i lived in auckland :) it's hotter than dunedin! still auckland is colder than taiwan :).

Dunedin is beautiful :).

hmm... what's wrong with chinese docs in hk? ppl throwing up and getting rashes? that's not good at all. :P :) there must be some good ones!! :)

cheers

I know of some people who have suffered from painful periods all their lives only to find out later that they have endometriosis, a condition where the tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside of it.

Several reasons for the acute pain an endometriosis sufferer feels are in this link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endometriosis#Cause_of_pain.

Having sex may cause pain, as when you climax your uterus contracts and this action may cause a sufferer to feel pain.

Take care!

I also go through the pains every month.

Have you ever tried taking Evening Primrose Oil? It helped me but I am useless at remembering to take it :(

My Chinese friends also suggested not to drink Caffeine, really cold things etc.

i just got them delivered to me yesterday...so excited but after a quick look of it, it kinda scared me due to the plastic bend and kinda worried...so how long does it take to get used to it and does it hurt? i watched their video, it said it wont feel anything once you put it in the rite place but i doubt it, i mean its such a big piece and inside of you, how can that possibly not to feel anything at all??

ouch! Sindhi~ Hope you're picking up some exercises and detox again :). It doesn't really have to be a long detox program, well, for me, I think drinking juice helps. I make fresh juice myself every morning and the pain lessens :)

Yep, icy drinks/water/ice creams are supposed to make it worse. That's why I like to drink hot tea/water/coffee or warm water. I used to love all icy drinks and eat a lot of ice cream in NZ in all the seasons too, which made it much worse. Now I cut it all down, and I don't crave for ice cream or ice drinks. It helps along with other things.

Cold water is supposed to be ok, perhaps it differs each person?

Try drinking chinese boiled red dates and drink a couple of glasses. It really works and stops the pain.

DON'T DRINK DURING PERIOD!!! Only drink the week before and week after.

My friend had killer periods, doing contortions on the sofa..and it worked.
