My mother (UK passport holder) is coming to HK. However this flight will have a transit in Chengdu.

Does anyone know if she will need a visa for transit, or pick one up at arrival. I called the airline and they were vague, but said that she would need to call the Chinese embassy in the UK to organise a transit visa. I've never heard of that.

Some years ago I flew from Europe to HK via Beijing. I didn't need a visa in Beijing for transit so I guess it is OK in Chengdu.

However, it always depends on the airport. Some airports don't really have a transit area which means you have to go out and check in again. But I think this is not the case in Chengdu.

I hope I got you confused a bit more :)
