Marriage and dependent visa?

Hello!

I am currently a US citizen, and my fiance is a HK citizen (born and raised in HK).

We plan on getting married and living in HK, which means that I will be applying for dependent visa.

My only question is, I will come to Hong Kong on a passport, get married, and then what will happen?

I want to be able to stay there, get the visa, and then stay there for good...is this possible, or do I need to re-enter once I have a visa to use instead of passport?

Thank you!

Thank you very much!

You answered my question perfectly.

I know it was simple, but thanks again.

You will be able to stay as long as you are married - if you divorce then you need to leave or find another sponsor. After 7 years you can apply for your own permanent visa.

You can usually work on a dependent visa but you need to apply.

Once you get married in HK to your fiancée, she is entitled to apply for a dependant visa for you.

Such a visa permits you to reside and work in HK as long as the visa is valid.

The visa is endorsed on the passport and it is the passport that permits you to enter and exit HK.
