Gateway

Hi,

Visited gateway in Central today. Found it to be pretty good. Wondering if the other Gateway is bigger?

Also does anyone know where I can pick up things like iron fortified bread? Australian/US sized sliced bread and milk bottles (so 2 litre bottles) and nutra grain (an Australian cereal - have seen this before on a previous trip but cant find it around central/IFC).

Thanks.

So back to my original question. Anyone know where I can get things like bread fortified with iron, juice fortified with calcium etc.

These are pretty common in Australia and I suspect the USA as well.

Thanks.

In Central, you also have Three-Sixty in Landmark Building to try.

"It's also a quiet, peaceful place to shop compared to any CitySuper. As with Gateway, whenever we've been inside Oliver's, there have been no more than half a dozen other shoppers."

Oliver's is often calm, but during lunch it is full of people getting lunch.

Great, thank you. Is Oliver's wallking distance from IFC?

As cara mentioned, very close. Take the walkway on the southeast end of IFC mall and you can be under a roof all the time.

Sorry for the dumb question. I'm not familiar enough with HK yet to know the building locations by name only. I still google map everything :)

/agree and I am only teasing you :)

Main problem with the internet is that you can never tell a persons tone. Smileys etc help a bit but its never as good as face to face.

Also go buy the "Hong Kong Guidebook" right now. Invaluable.

Any bookshop?"

Pretty much. The large print version is "Hong Kong Directory". Exactly the same but scaled up.

Despite the name, these are simply street map books. But they also have the bus and tram lines, MTR maps, hiking trails, etc...

be careful though...i have found many of the products (ie: the cereals) have absorbed the smell and taste of the soap (basically the smell of the store).

To the OP, if you mean nutri-grain cereal by Kelloggs (from Oz), its available in Welcome and PNS.

Gateway isn't really a grocery store like the other ones you mention. It's a store that specializes in American products (food, detergent, diapers, etc...). A bit like a tiny Costco or PriceClub. It's on the corner of Wing Lok Street and Des Voeux Road Central in Sheung Wan. The entrance is on DVRC. Yellow sign.

BTW if you like CitySuper, Oliver's and Three-Sixty you'll love Great in Pacific Place. It's "great" (yeah I know...)

Hi CD,

Yes that's right. Though the local welcome near 88 apartments in Des VoXXX street doesn't have it. Though I did see it at the welcome in Gold Coast and Causeway bay.

I'll visit the delicatessen this weekend and see if they have it.

Thanks.

There are plenty of online options for good food as well of course. South Stream Seafoods, Meatmarket, Aussie Organics...

I've heard of the meatmarket. Not the others. Is there a list somewhere? I can google the ones you mentioned.

Thanks.

That's really my core question I guess - is there a one stop shop. Doesn't seem to be. "One-stop" shopping places are the norm in Australia.

Just something I need to get use to I guess. The grocery shopping is certainly superior to Tokyo so cant complain too much.
