Dear Anyone,
We just received today in the USA an envelope about our MPF from Hong Kong. It says our accrued benefits will not be released to us because our date of permanent departure preceeds the termination date of our work contract in HK. We filled out the appropriate forms, pre-paid our taxes, and met every other requirement. Surely many other expatriates have had to deal with this before? Can you imagine trying to ferret out this information from the states? We lived in HK 8 years and thought we had every single base covered. And we also know first hand how tough it is to get this info while there much less from here. Does anyone know or would anyone be so kind as to call the hotline below that was sent in the information pack and inquire about the legislation or HK regulation that is holding this up? Especially if someone who speaks CANTONESE. That is so crucial. We really need help in this regard. We simply cannot communicate effectively with the HSBC or MPFA ("Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority") from here, it costs alot to fax to Asia, and it is unclear exactly what more they need from us anyway. We are desperate for those funds to be released as we are right in the middle of purchasing a new home. Kindest regards, BM MPF Hotline: 3128-0128
