Apply for the internet in HK - how long?

people have their likes and dislikes about every ISP in Hong Kong. Personaly, I've never had a problem with PCCW's Netvigator Broadband, which is bundled with NOW Broadband TV so you can get half decent TV (for a price) along with your ADSL in one package (though you pay separate bills). Their speeds are getting faster all the time as the infrastructure gets upgraded, very stable in my experience, but you may have to sign a long term (min. 18 mth) contract. Can take about 2-4 weeks to book and get set up....

Or you can get a serviced apt that has broadband service already. Check around to see which fits your budget.

you can find people online (in the classifieds here for eg there is someone right now selling a 6 mth contract) who are selling their partial contract as they may need to leave and don't want to pay the cancellation fees...every place ive moved to (3x in 4 years) it has been at least 2 weeks to hook up...sometimes more..may be diff. for you...keep in mind these sales scum will say anything to get u to sign...get everything in writing and don't sign until you fully understand what you are getting...Ocean Shores in Tiu Keng Leng has free internet for residents (as do others I'm sure) so I cancelled my PCCW (yay!)
