I know this thread should be on the Shenzen forum, but it doesn't seem to get much traffic.
I have a houseguest arriving soon from Aust who wants to go to Shenzen for the day shopping. She can't get a Visa at home because she has no flight into China or accom booked.
Does anyone know if she can now get a Visa at the border???
I was there 1mth ago, and you could not get a Visa at the border without a HK id card, but I have heard rumours that this has changed back to the pre Olympic system.
It's a long way to go, to get turned back, so I would appreciate any recent knowledge on this. Has anyone got a Visa at the border recently without a HK id card??
Alternatively can anyone suggest who I can contact?
I have tried the Chinese embassy and can only get a recorded message and CTS did not answer the phone.
Thanks

Check but last week, without an ID, you couldn't get a visa at the border...
But it seems they will relax that rule on the 17th of Oct.

We went about a month ago (HKID holders) and took guests from NZ. They were turned away, we were were allowed entry.
My advise to save time/money and dissapointment go to Wanchai and go get a visa for your guest. Don't risk it at this stage unless someone can prove it otherwise.
