i have noticed that both my daugthers are walking a bit funny - their feet are sort of leaning inwards (if it makes sense) - i guess in need special shoes with support etc to sort this out and see a doctor first? Can anyone recommend an orthopedic doc (is this who i should see?). Many thanks

Yes you should see an orthopedic doctor. I have used the in-house specialist at the adventist for my son after he broke his ankle, and he helped with another problem he had. Plus they have excellent physiotherapist who took care him afterwards.
Don't remember the guy's name, but if you call the Adventist (HK side), they'll be able to find him.
Very expensive, though.

How old are your daughters, if they're toddlers I think its quite common for their feet to lean inwards.

I noticed the same thing on my daughter 1 foot slighty inward when walking when she was 18 months and thought she would grow out of it. However not 3.5 years old and it is still there.
I took her to visit Mrs. Harfoot at the Mathilda Medical center in Central she is a podiatrist and has a website (I don't heve her full details with me). She gave us very good advice on which shoes to choose for my daughter so she can correct the problem by herself and we'll monitor every 6 months. Consultation was reasonably priced.

This problem is common for any child before 4 years old before concluding anything REALLY seriously wrong physically.
My son had this problem with right foot turned in a bit when walking, as a result he's very clumsy, trips over his own feet daily.... finally, went to buy the Dr. Shoes' expensive shoes for "fixing" feet. They have MANY MANY letters from parents thanking them posted in the store, in Festival Walk.
I bought a pair for my son at $ 1400 a pair, expensive, but after 2 months of wearing daily.... his problem is GONE!
Thank you Dr. Shoes! You can try them out, it worked for many of my friends' kids too ! There were kids in there trying out these shoes because both feet turned in, heel not touching on the ground when walking, some were so serious their knees were in a weird shape already....

We noticed the same problem with our 2.5 yr old girl some months back. Took her to see a pediatric-orthopedic surgeon and he diagnosed her as having "intoeing gait", which according to him is very common in children. Apparently they outgrow this by the time they're about 7 or 8. We weren't given any physio advice, just told to take our daughter swimming as it's very good exercise to strengthen the legs, and watch how she sits. I don't know how your kids sit, but mine doesn't like to sit cross-legged on the floor. Instead, she always sits with her legs pointing outwards (opposite of cross-legged, if you know what I mean). The doctor said that was also another "symptom" of having intoeing gait. We also bought a tricycle for our little one to practice pedalling and get her feet exercising.
$1400 for a pair of kids shoes is awfully expensive! What kind are they...orthopedic shoes or just normal ones? Are they better than Dr Kong's shoes?

I am going to go with the previous post! We used Dr. Shoes for our son's problems. It was worth the money! It's worked. For us, not as quick, we still have him in his "special shoes" and he has a pair of "special running shoes" now too.

thanks very much everyone! think i will take the kids to a podiatrist just to be sure and see if i can get away without spending so much on the shoes!! i have 2 kids (with the same problem) - so $1,400 for one pair per kid - ouch....
